Collectible Barbie Dolls from Mattel

Did you realize that Barbie dolls items are not just the preferred toy of little girls? Mattel reports that there are over 100,000 adult enthusiasts of Barbie dolls items. 80 % of these enthusiasts are women who are, on average around the age 40, and purchase at least 20 Barbie dolls items a season. Almost half of Barbie dolls enthusiasts each spend over $1000 a season.

Mattel nowadays has been catering to this niche. They have created a range of classic Barbie dolls items with the aim of motivating enthusiasts to increase their selections in line with their individual preferences and interests. Barbie dolls items of well-known TV shows and movies, superstars and well-known performers, for example, have been created with enthusiasts in mind.

In 2004 Mattel introduced a color level program to help classify classic Barbie dolls items and help enthusiasts to find them. The colors represent the amount of baby dolls created globally and indicate the scarcity factor of the different baby dolls. Large also indicates which kind of shop stocks the particular kind of classic girl doll.

There are four colors in the classic level program, and this article gives you will of each level.

The first level is the Lilac Brand classic baby dolls. There is no limit on the quantity of baby dolls created with the Lilac Brand. Lilac Brand Barbies consist of 'The Dolls of the World' sequence, 'Festivals of the World', 'Model Barbie', as well as some of the 'Pop Culture' baby dolls. Involved in the Silver Brand are the 'Wedding' sequence, the 'Birthday Barbies', 'Ballet Barbies' and 'I Dream of a Season' baby dolls. Some types of Kelly Felix girl doll and Tommy girl doll also can be found under the Silver Brand.

Following the Silver is the Silver Brand classic baby dolls. Silver Brand baby dolls are created in quantities of no more than 25,000 of each girl doll. The appearance is different from the previous levels. Silver Brand baby dolls come in a "cake box" kind package with an extra see through layer to protect the girl doll. The box has art work and photography on the back and lid with gold decorative cutting. Involved under the Silver Brand are 'Designer Fashion Model' baby dolls, 'Designer Bride', Vintage Repros' and 'Pin-up Women's classic baby dolls.

The top level is the Jewelry Brand baby dolls. These baby dolls are created in versions of less than 1,000, and also consist of one-of-a-kind-dolls that are available at special occasions, or are unique to one shop only. An example of a Jewelry Brand classic girl doll is the 'White Candy Obsession(TM) Barbie® Doll!' The doll's hair has the smell of sweet. Other baby dolls consist of the 'Faerie Queen', Bradley Mischa Woman Barbie dolls, and the unique 'The Nurse' Barbie dolls girl doll designed by John Best.
